Aadhil aces Umzinyathi

He left the Matrics of 2015 with this message, "work hard, play hard and never let the stress of matric overcome or overwhelm you."

Armed with a strict study plan and a determined mind, Aadhil Moola wowed Dundee with seven A’s and number five spot in Umzinyathi’s top achievers. He aced all seven subjects which were English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Economics, Physical Sciences and Accounting.
He did this with his strict study plan and strong approach to his studies. He however, wasn’t always a steadfast student and claims to have only really put his shoulder to the wheel in matric, “every year you tell yourself to work hard, but this year I listened to myself and I did.

I never did homework till this year, I studied the night before for examinations but this year I prepared and went to tuition. I was arrogant towards schoolwork but this year I changed,” said Aadhil.
His change came just in time and landed him a spot amongst Umzinyathi’s finest. He was joined by fellow classmate Anele Buthelezi who landed spot number three. She unfortunately could not be reached at the time of going to print.
Career choice: Aadhil will soon be heading to the University of Witswatersrand where he will pursue a career in Accounting. This career choice was influenced by his financially orientated family. His brother is a Chartered Accountant and his father has been in the business world for many years. Aadhil offers the following advice for one to kick-start a study plan of their own, “homework will be drilled into you and one might encounter the same question a number of times and think it to be a waste of time, but it really is not.

Always prepare and plan ahead. Studying the night before may have got you to matric but it wont get you through it. Start a study timetable and stick to it with no exceptions, but also make time for rest. Overloading your brain wont work.”
Aadhil, with matric now behind him, reminisces about the highlights of the past year, such as the friends he made that he won’t see again and scooping prizes at Academic Prize givings.
He also looked back at the challenges he faced such as overcoming laziness, the increase in workload and the decrease in social life.

“You spend 12 years to get here so you have to cut back accordingly and restraining yourself sometimes poses a challenge,” he added.
