Touched by an angel

As a 'thank-you', the pilates group recently enjoyed a high tea where they presented Suria with a potted plant as a token of appreciation.

Dundee’s own ‘angel’, Suria Dannhauser, has, for the past 12 years, given free pilates classes to anyone interested as a way of ‘giving back to the community’.
The popular local physiotherapist gives the classes twice a week – Mondays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and on Friday mornings from 9am-10am. One of her ‘students’, Ranee Naidoo, paid tribute to Suria by describing her as ‘our angel’.
“She takes time off her busy work schedules, travelling to Newcastle Private Hospital, running her busy practice here but come thunder, lightning or even ill-health, she still gives these classes – even if one person turns up!” Mrs Naidoo said the pilates exercises are a life skill that has given every member of the group ‘a second chance to re-visit our bodies and take control of situations we find ourselves in’. “It is sad that more people are not taking advantage of this life-changing experience, especially our younger generation!” One of the class veterans, Lorraine Schütte, recently suffered an arm injury after a fall while gardening.
She says if it was not for pilates, she would have never have recovered as quickly from the nasty injury.
