At approximately 8pm on Wednesday evening, a car smashed through the wall of a house on Gerrit Maritz Avenue in Barry Hertzog Park.

Reportedly, all four occupants escaped serious injury and fled the scene.

One of the occupants returned to the scene to speak to police and the home owner, and claimed the bonnet of the silver Mercedes Benz had flown open while they were travelling down the road.

“The bonnet flew open and the guy who was driving tried to stop the car,” he said. “I remember hearing a big noise and felt the car hitting something.”
