Water restrictions implemented in Umzinyathi region

Persistent drought means that the UDM has been forced to take drastic steps

Hard-pressed consumers are not going to have a happy Christmas.  First, there is load shedding to cope with and now water restrictions have been implemented.

Umzinyathi District Municipality has announced that this is because of the persistent drought situation in the region.

“All consumers are required to use water sparingly as the situation is very serious. The first stage of restrictions will involve no water being reticulated from 10 pm to 4 am on a daily basis. Should the restrictions be inadequate, further stringent reductions will be implemented by the municipality.

“We wish all our customers a Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year. Please cooperate by reporting all leaks and bursts to save water. Be water wise and remember “Water is life, conserve it and respect it,” said Thami Malunga of UDM
