Cocoa’s progress paused

Cocoa is commended for her perseverance in going against everything a diet entails. She was patient enough to wait 21 days before throwing us the ultimate curveball.

How do you deal with a dachshund’s devotion to breaking the rules?

After consulting with the handyman of the house, I was informed that fencing off an area isn’t as easy as one, two, three.

Payday was a long way away. We had to come up with a solution before the apricots grew riper and fell to the floor even more.

For the first time in Cocoa’s attempt to beat the bulge, I think the dexterous dachshund might have us beat.

In last week’s edition of the Newcastle Advertiser, Cocoa found a way to curb her cravings by overindulging in apricots from the neighbours overhanging tree.

Since portion control is off the table, Cocoa seems to be enjoying her doggy ‘diet’ a whole more. She fills up whenever she needs to, making the provisions for pudgy pets a problem.

Step 3: ‘Do not refuse a reward’ rang true this week. But how do you reward bad behaviour?

Cocoa’s desire to disobey her diet is outstanding.

She’s been a true trooper where her exercise routine is concerned, but shows little progress in terms of weight loss, owing to the apricot affliction.

Cocoa is commended for her perseverance in going against everything a diet entails. She was patient enough to wait 21 days before throwing us the ultimate curveball.

After 28 days, the dashing dachshund has gone out of her way in an effort to prove that she is the fairest of them all in the hunger games.

It’s back to the drawing board to find a way to keep the pudgy ‘pup’s’ cravings at bay.

Since separating her from her fellow furry friends isn’t an option, we’ll have to devise a new plan of action.

A million reasons for Cocoa’s rebellion ran through my mind, but at the end of the day, she cannot be blamed for what she cannot comprehend.

Cocoa might have us beat this week, but somehow we’ll find a way to keep her jaw jammed with nothing but corrective cuisine.
