Police create awareness among the youth

About 400 students were addressed and pamphlets were distributed

As a curtain raiser to the ’16 Days of Activism’ campaign targeting violence against women and children, which runs from November 25 to December 10, police officers descended on Bhevu High School on yesterday morning (Wednesday).

The group, who were intent on creating awareness among the youth, discussed topics such as the Child Care Act, Sexual Offences Act, Dangerous Weapons Act, as well as drugs awareness.

They addressed approximately 400 students and distributed pamphlets.

At the function were members from the Department of Social Development and Khulisa.

Mr A Karrim from the Al-Imdaad Foundation was also present, and female students were handed gifts of feminine hygiene products.
