Correctional officer scoops top award

Mr Strydom was awarded a certificate and floating trophy for being placed first in the Masibambisane Award

Berrington Strydom has been a Correctional Officer for 19 years and says the best part about his job is interacting and educating the public. He was rewarded for this when the Glencoe Management Area division of the Correctional Services held an awards ceremony last Friday at Champagne Sport Resort.

Mr Strydom was awarded a certificate and floating trophy for being placed first in the Masibambisane Award. This award recognises the efforts made by staff to work with the community, creating awareness about crime. “This is a great achievement for me. It is the first time that I have received an award since joining the department,” said Mr Strydom.
