SPCA keeps tabs on fireworks and animals

Five dogs that fled their homes fearing the loud bangs from fireworks are still missing

Five dogs that fled their homes fearing the loud bangs from fireworks are still missing. This is according to Estcourt and District SPCA Trainee Inspector Nelson Mabaso who added that he was on duty until 11.30pm last Thursday in anticipation of any animal-related complaints resulting from the discharge of fireworks.

“We received a complaint of one stray dog running around at night, which we recovered and took to the SPCA. In Victoria Street the next morning one very traumatised dog was found,” said Mr Mabaso. While there were a number of calls made to him about animals running on the roads, many of these animals could not be recovered.
