Friends feed waiting clinic patients

Misiwe Zuma and Hlengiwe Mbele made their way to Ntabamhlophe to serve a cup of warm vegetable soup and bread to the patients at the clinic

Two ladies who have been friends for more than 11 years decided to feed local citizens waiting for medical assistance at clinics in and around Estcourt.

Misiwe Zuma and Hlengiwe Mbele started this initiative known as Isihlanga Sethu ealier this month.
Many awake early in the morning to make their way to the clinic to save a place in the long queues. They often miss the most important meal of the day, breakfast and others purposely miss breakfast due to not having any food.

These friends have witnessed how some patients take their medication on an empty stomach. They believe nothing can make the long wait worse than being hungry. Misiwe Zuma and Hlengiwe Mbele made their way to Ntabamhlophe to serve a cup of warm vegetable soup and bread to the patients at the clinic.

Mrs Zuma and Mrs Mbele plan on serving a fruit and a juice when warmer days approach. The initiative is currently done on a voluntary basis and all costs are paid for by the two women. If you would like to assist the initiative contact Mrs Zuma on 072 932 4102 or Mrs Mbele on 073 816 0594.
