Collisions and accidents mar weekend.

A number of collisions and accidents over the weekend have left at least three people injured and one dead.

Members of Newcastle SAPS were kept busy over the weekend, with a total of 190 arrests, the majority of these arrests involved traffic offense and alcohol.

On Saturday night at approximately 2am, three people were injured when two vehicles collided at the Albert Wessels Drive and N11 intersection. The injured were taken to Madadeni Provincial Hospital by ER24 in a stable condition.

At 7pm on Saturday morning, three vehicles collided on Victoria Road, just past Paddock Drive. The number of injuries could not be confirmed.

Again on Saturday, the driver of a black hatchback lost control of his vehicle, subsequently mounting the pavement on Frikkie Meyer Street. No injuries were reported.

On Saturday evening, a truck hit a pedestrian on the N11 just past Waterside Wimpy. Sadly, the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries.

A number of other small accidents and collisions, largely attributed to a music festival at Amcor Dam on Saturday night, occurred over the weekend.

Fortunately no other serious injuries were reported.
