Van Reenen police put a dent in the drug trade

Two bags of dagga weighing over 50kg were found in the vehicle

Observant officers attached to the Van Reenen Visible Policing Unit and Detective Services recently made a dent in the drug trade when they arrested a suspect along the N3 who was in possession of dagga.

On Friday, October 24, Van Reenen police officers were on patrol along the N3 highway near ‘Windy Corner’ when they came across a suspicious-looking white Bantam LDV. The vehicle was pulled over and searched.

Two bags of dagga weighing about 51kg were found in the vehicle.

The 21-year-old suspect was arrested and charged for dealing in dagga, and appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Monday).

The estimated street value of the dagga is around R45,000.
