Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa shot and killed

A reward of R150 000 has been put up for anyone who can provide the SAPS with information that will lead to an arrest.

At approximately 8pm on Sunday night, Bafana Bafana captain and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa, was shot and killed in a house in Vosloosrus.

Its is believed Mr Meyiwa was visiting friends when robbers entered the home. There were seven people inside the house at the time.

 According to a report by The Citizen, a statement was issued by the SAPS saying two men had allegedly entered the house while a third remained outside.

“A shot was fired, the goalkeeper was hit in the upper body and taken to hospital where he was declared (dead) on arrival,” read the statement.

“A case of murder  is under investigation and we (are) appealing to the community to assist with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects,” the police said in the statement.

“Reward of up to R150 000 is on offer 4 any info that can lead to arrest,” SAPS Tweeted.

“Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrator(s) can contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211.”

The police will hold a media briefing on Monday morning.
