Newcastle police seize 34 parcels of dagga

Members of the Newcastle SAPS have confiscated 34 parcels of dagga in Amajuba Park.

Newcastle Police seized just over 12 kilograms of dagga at a house in Amajuba Park on Thursday.

According to police spokesperson Captain Shooz Magudulela, police officers received a tip-off that dagga was being sold at the home in Amajuba Park.

Upon arriving at the scene, Warrant Officer Matthew Rose and Constable Siyabonga Buthelezi observed a suspect carrying a black plastic bag. The suspect ran, dumping the bag inside a nearby yard.

The suspect was apprehended and upon inspection the policemen found two parcels of dagga in his pockets, and a further 32 parcels of 365g each inside the black bag.

The dagga was confiscated and the suspect was charged with possession of dagga. He is expected to appear in court soon.
