As Diwali/ Deepavali, the ‘Festival of lights’, draws near, the Estcourt Hindu Cultural Society is once again mindful of the many indigent and needy families in and around the community. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.
The Estcourt Hindu Cultural Society did exactly that. On Saturday, October 11 they embarked on their annual distribution of Diwali food hampers valued at R250 to 200 deserving and needy families within Estcourt. The initiative was made possible as a result of the kindness and benevolence of various industries and business houses in and about Estcourt.
Both the members and the officials belonging to the Estcourt Hindu Cultural Society would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who made the initiative possible in donations, cash and kind.
The Estcourt Hindu Cultural Society would also like to thank the members of the community and the religious organisations who braved the chilly weather conditions to assist with the door-to-door deliveries of the Diwali hampers.
