The body of 65-year-old Mr Samson Mbuyane Masengemu was found by police late Friday afternoon, October 10.
The decomposing body was found in the mountains near the Langkloof area of Bergville. The deceased had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Mr Masengema had been missing since Monday, September 29. He was last seen attending a funeral in Newcastle and his vehicle was found abandoned in the Bergville area.
Shortly after the corpse was located, two suspects (both aged about 26) were arrested for the murder. The missing man’s firearm was found in their possession.
The two suspects appeared yesterday (Monday) in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court, facing murder charges.
