BREAKING NEWS: Off-duty police officer murdered

A police officer with the Madadeni Police Station was found brutally murdered in his home on Sunday.

In a heinous stab at justice, yet another police officer has paid the ultimate price.

The body of fatally stabbed Lieutenant Khoza of the Madadeni Police Station was found in his Madadeni home by a colleague on Sunday morning.

It is believed the suspect entered his home via the garage door, as there were no signs of forced entry, and  allegedly also stole the deceased’s firearm.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Simon Luthuli, explained, “The lieutenant had finished a night-shift on Saturday. It was his first day off in a very long time. He lived alone, and was an excellent officer.”

According to sources, Lt Khoza had been an exemplary officer, who had served the police force for more than 10 years.

“We loved him. He kept this community safe, even when he was off-duty. He loved to protect us all, and this is how people have repaid him,” said a shocked resident.

The motive behind the murder is still being investigated. However, the community speculates he was murdered because of the progress he had made in the fight against crime.

An official statement from the police will be released during the course of the day regarding the investigation into the murder. No arrests have been made at this time.

The Newcastle Advertiser wishes to extend our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Lt. Khoza.
