MMA fighters to compete in fight league

Four mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Tiger/Crane MMA Academy are currently preparing themselves for Africa Fight League (AFL), which is set to take place in Ballito on October 31.

Modern day gladiators no longer fight against savage beasts, nor do they fight to death. Now, they fight for pride in the small confines of a cage.

Four mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Tiger/Crane MMA Academy are currently preparing themselves for Africa Fight League (AFL), which is set to take place in Ballito on October 31.

The AFL is one of the premier amateur leagues in South Africa, where MMA fighters gather from across the country and put their skills to the test.

The upcoming AFL event will be a joint venture between Africa Fight League and White Buffalo Productions, an organisation formed by former world heavy weight boxing champion, Francois “The White Buffalo” Botha.

One of the reasons behind the joint venture, is because AFL has expanded its variety of events that now includes boxing and kickboxing.

The fighters from Tiger/Crane MMA Academy who will be competing in the event are:

Davy Chuang who will be competing in the MMA division, Emile Janse van Rensburg and Flippie Steyn will be participating in the kickboxing category, while Edoux Victor, the fourth fighter, has not yet been allocated an opponent.

“The Tiger/Crane MMA Academy will be hosting a MMA seminar with EFC Africa fighter, Brendon Katz, in the near future. The seminar will be ideal for anyone wishing to take up MMA as a sport,” Sensei Frik Willemse said.
