AS THE municipal strike reaches its third week with no conclusion, both the workers and the community are starting to lose hope of there ever being a light at the end of this tunnel.
The strike has taken a terrible toll on service delivery with community members and school children being unable to access the public library and many other facilities including water and electricity.
The angry workers took to protesting again on Monday, September 22 in front of the municipal buildings.
According to the workers, they will not stop their go-slow until all their needs are met.
It is said that a meeting was held by the ANC last week in Bhekuzulu to inform community members about the matters regarding water and power shortages but that meeting is said to have turned into a political party dispute and very little light was shed on the real issue at hand.
On Monday, the Executive Council Members (ECM) are said to have been back in their offices but the Vryheid Herald was unable to get a comment regarding whether and when the issue between the employer and employees would be settled.
