A wanted suspect, Bongumusa ‘Mshingelwa’ Zakhele Mthethwa, was re-arrested recently by the Ladysmith Tactical Response Team (TRT).
33-year-old Mthethwa was arrested on January 6, 2012, after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. He absconded from bail and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
Police were recently following up on information which led them to stop a taxi in the Ladysmith area. Mthethwa was found inside the vehicle and arrested.
He appeared in the Weenen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 22, on the firearm charge.
Police are also investigating his possible involvement in murders and attempted murders in the Weenen and Ezakheni area.
