Getting recharged with tourism

“The name of the campaign, Recharge, means people often don’t take the time to de-stress. We are promoting that people become tourists in their own province and take the time to revitalise themselves and explore what is in their province,”

Promoting tourism in KwaZulu-Natal, members of the KZN Tourism Department interacted with the Newcastle community last Saturday at Scott Street Mall.

According to Keith Williams, Regional Manager Europe, the purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness within the community about tourist destinations which South Africans could enjoy as much as foreign visitors.

“The name of the campaign, Recharge, means people often don’t take the time to de-stress. We are promoting that people become tourists in their own province and take the time to revitalise themselves and explore what is in their province,” said Mr Williams.

During the course of September, the tourism team has travelled across KZN, spreading their message. Their next stop will be Richards Bay.

“We handed out yellow Recharge shirts and we want people to wear them every Friday and promote the campaign, just as they did with the 2010 Soccer World Cup,” Mr Williams concluded.
