August was Women’s Month, and the team of women at Legal Aid decided to celebrate the month in a caring way.
As society doesn’t usually associate prison life with women, the Legal Aid team visited the local women’s correctional facility to celebrate Women’s Month together with the inmates.
“We wanted to show these women they are remembered, and they are still special to the world,” explained organiser, Nicole Pillay.
Motivational speakers advised the prisoners never to give up and embrace change for the better.
“We wanted to treat them, and to remind them they can change, and to encourage this change. Somewhere, someone is missing them,” concluded Ms Pillay.
