THE Land Service Movement of Vryheid Landbou held a club camp from September 5 to 7.

The club leaders, Mr N Möller, Mr D Sangweni and Mr L Mathenjwa, ran an awesome program. On Friday, Mr Möller presented a lecture on leadership and group management. The spark was lit amongst the 24 campers. Soon, the four teams showed their skills. Each group had a turn to clean up and wash dishes after every meal. Furthermore, they did community service around the school. The railings in the school buildings and the farm gates were painted.

On Saturday night a huge bonfire was made and the team spirit was high. The traditional marshmallow roasting was great fun!

On Sunday morning, Mr N Möller led the church service. His message was, “We must always be thankful and joyful.”

The highlight of the weekend was the potjiekos for Sunday lunch. Each group made a potjie. It was so awesome to watch the learners, while chopping, slicing and cooking, they sang and encouraged one another. Thank you guys, you were the best! We would like to thank Matron A Naudé for allowing us to use the kitchen. Then to Oom John and Tannie Linda Pieters, thank you for being there for us.

On the sport front: On September 3, Landbou played against Vryheid High School.

Soccer: The boys’ first team lost 2 – 4; the boys’ second team lost 1 – 2 and the girls drew 1 – 1.

Rugby: The rugby guys played in a Seven’s Tournament at Weston Agricultural College during the weekend of September 5 to 7. They won six of their nine matches. In the semi-final they played against Michaelhouse and lost 10 – 15. Well done boys!

A special thank you to Mr G Slump, the coach. You are such an inspiration to the guys.

We wish our Matric class of 2014 all the best of luck for the Trial Exams.
