Thalana learners acting responsibly

The Thalana learners have earned themselves a position on Wall of Fame (YR),owing to the fact that they are giving back to the community through donations

Acting responsibly takes many forms at Thalana High School in Sibongile, and this was evident when Grade 11 learners took on the responsibility of going all out to source donations to help fellow needy students.
According to the educator in charge of the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, Nosihle Sithebe, they are educating learners how to give back to the community. She said the programme also supports the development of projects that help young people to learn hands-on skills.
About 15 students received food parcels and clothes, which were donated by various businesses and family members. Acting Principal Roger Hlongwane appeals to businesspeople and communities to be open with their support when learners ask for assistance. “Right now the number of learners who need to be assisted has increased to around 100. This project will now be an annual one, “Mr Hlongwane said. He also appreciates the initiative taken by Miss Sithebe and learners. Hlongwane thanks those businesses that made the project successful.
