“WE don’t want Mandi!” say the municipal workers as the issue of their 14th cheque still remains unresolved.

Municipal services are again unavailable today as workers continue with their strike and community members who wish to get assistance whether its water and electricity statements or the library, will have to wait till further notice.

According to the workers, a lot of money was put into the Revitalisation Programme which was aimed at revamping the town, money which they feel should have been used to pay them.

The workers feel that Mr Mandi, who is the Municipal Administrator, is accountable as he is the one who heads up most money matters

A municipal spokesperson told the Vryheid Herald that union members and the Municipal Manager are currently in a meeting to try and resolve the matter before it has a bad impact on service delivery.

Until a conclusion is reached, residents can expect no municipal service.
