Fire fighters staunch factory’s flames

It is believed one of the firefighters sustained moderate burn wounds to her legs.

Workers of a local hardware factory in Edison Street were shocked out of daily routine when a freak fire erupted on site at approximately 10am this morning.

Wishing to remain anonymous, the owner of the factory explained she was uncertain as to how the fire had begun. “We saw the flames and got such a shock that we all just ran out,” she claimed.

However, a source on the scene said workers had been welding in the back of the factory, when a spark fell into containers which held paint thinners inside, resulting in the fire.

The growing flames engulfed the nearby containers, but did not spread to the factory.

The businesswoman said she was impressed with the fire services and ER24, who arrived at the scene within minutes of the fire breaking out, and ensured the fire was contained.
