Amajuba High latest victim of cunning crooks

It is believed the suspects entered the administrative block through the ceiling, a similar modus operandi used in school burglaries earlier in the year.

Amajuba High School was burgled by clever thieves on Thursday, August 28.

It is believed the suspects entered the administrative block through the ceiling, a similar modus operandi used in school burglaries earlier in the year.

According to Justus Hartung, principal of the school, the suspects made off with an unconfirmed amount of cash and a laptop.

“It appears they cut open our safe with power tools,” he said.

The alarm system had been disabled and smashed, and thieves had entered the building directly above the alarm control panel.

The school had held a function the previous night, the proceeds of which was put in the safe.

A forensic detective was on scene dusting for fingerprints, and Mr Hartung confirmed the security cameras had picked up the burglars, and police were hoping to make a positive identification after studying the footage.

Panorama Combined School, which is only a short distance from Amajuba High School, was not affected.
