Ammunition found near Steadville School

The schoolchildren had allegedly been playing with the potentially dangerous items

Ammunition was found on a playground near a school in Steadville yesterday (Wednesday). The Ladysmith Dog Unit (K9) was sent out after children at the school came across the ammo and other suspicious items hidden under a rock at the back of the primary school.

The schoolchildren had allegedly been playing with the potentially dangerous items. K9 officers cleared the area and recovered two smoke cannisters, three rounds of ammunition and a firearm magazine. The origin of the items is being investigated by police.

W/O Jacque Meyer picks up the ammunition.
