Nightmare on Colley Street after house burglary

An astounding R395 000 worth of property was stolen from a house in Colley Street on August 26.

An astounding R395 000 worth of property was stolen from a house in Colley Street on August 26. The property stolen included jewelery, an undisclosed amount of cash (including US Dollars), a laptop and a firearm. It is believed that entrance was gained from removing a window.

According to the owner of the house, Dr Meer, the house was left locked and secured at 4:pm on the afternoon of August 26. However, later that day he was informed by Link-Up
Security that his alarm had been tampered with. Dr Meer rushed home to find that his house had been burgled and ransacked. He also noticed that the back window had been removed, and the burglar guards surrounding it had been broken.

The thieves left no stone unturned, and even broke open the safe to steal a firearm. Dr Meer is left baffled after this incident, as ‘the house is very secure, yet they still found a weak spot’. He extended his heartiest gratitude to the police, detectives and Link-Up Security for their good work.
