Mob justice turned ugly when 17-year-old Xolani Dlamini from Allen Farm lost his life at the hands of angry community members from Ruthland.

Mob justice turned ugly when 17-year-old Xolani Dlamini from Allen Farm lost his life at the hands of angry community members from Ruthland.


This happened after he attempted to rape a woman on August 17. She screamed and alerted community members who rushed to the scene and began assaulting the accused. He sustained multiple serious injuries to his entire body. He was rushed to the hospital and died of his injuries. 


In response to this incident Constable Nyembe stated: “We do accept that the community can assist by apprehending the suspect, but we condemn that they punish the suspects themselves.” A case of murder was opened, and eleven suspects were charged and appeared in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court on August 25. 


Constable Nyembe added that anyone who has information regarding the case to please contact the police on 034 621 6500.
