The three of the five men that were at large who made off with R20 000 in airtime vouchers and R5 500 in cash were apprehended on August 20 and 21 respectively and appeared in court today.

The gang of five men – three of whom managed to escape – who threatened the staff at Big Wheel Motors, on the corner of Gladstone and McKenzie streets on March 15, have been apprehended and appeared in the Dundee court today.

Three of the five, who made off with R20 000 in airtime vouchers and R5 500 in cash, were apprehended by police on August 20 and 21 respectively.

Bonginkosi Mkhize, Samson Mbathta and Sbusiso Mthuli appeared before the Dundee Magistrate’s Court today where their case was remanded  to August 27 to review the bail appeal.

The two men who were shot and injured in the shoot-out that ensued that evening where at least eight shots were fired are only due to appear in court in October later this year.

One of the men tried to hide near an outside toilet after scaling a security gate at the Dundee and District Club adjacent to Big Wheel.

He was traced and recovered by police.  He had been shot and injured.
