IEC holds mother and daughter evening

Fittingly entitled ‘Roses and Buds’, the evening was a fundraiser for the school’s netball team in acquiring sports equipment

A dedicated team of female staff and learners from the Islamic Educational Centre (IEC) held a mother and daughter evening at Mount View Lodge on Friday evening.

Fittingly entitled ‘Roses and Buds’, the evening was a fundraiser for the school’s netball team in acquiring sports equipment.

The hall was beautifully draped in blue. The mother and daughter team of programme diectors, Fathima and Ayman Shaik, kept the audience entertained for the night.

The evening’s programme included a recitation and translation of a passage from the Quran, as well as a talk by guest speaker Shireen Vorajee, who is the chairperson of the Ladysmith Muslim Women’s Forum. There were many lucky draws and the winners went home with a variety of items such as beauty vouchers and hampers from stores including Mica Hardware and TFS Wholesalers.

Guests were then treated to a scrumptious meal. The well-attended event was an enjoyable evening of bonding between women of all age groups.
