Police dog show at Monument Primary School

The learners were clearly impressed with the dogs and showed their approval by applauding excitedly

The Dog Unit (K9) held an eventful show for learners at Monument Primary School earlier this morning (Thursday) as they displayed a variety of skills.

The officers set up a few crates and tyres as props for the dogs. The show started off with a drug search, with drugs being hidden in the middle of a tyre for the dogs to find.

The second act involved a ‘criminal’ being chased and caught by one of the dogs.

The third and final act was a ‘command and follow’ game. An officer gave his dog a few commands (such as follow, sit, run) and the dog successfully carried out the actions required.

The learners were clearly impressed with the dogs and showed their approval by applauding excitedly.

The brave learners were then allowed to pet two of the crime-fighting dogs.

It was an entertaining and educational morning at Monument Primary School, showing just how well ‘canine officers’ work with their partners in the war against crime.
