Alleged high school pupil ‘rape video’ goes viral

The identities of the persons depicted in the video are unknown at this stage, and sources believe the video may have been staged or downloaded from the Internet.

Allegations against local high school pupils have surfaced after a graphic rape video recently went viral via social media networks.

An irate caller on Newcastle Community Radio’s (NCR) live ‘Amajuba Breakfast Show’ sparked massive debate among listeners after they alleged the video had originated from a local high school.

These callers erroneously attributed the video to the high school pupils, which in turn sparked controversy and led to a wave of inquiries to both pupils and officials at the school.

Amajuba Breakfast Show Host, Mondli ‘Bhekane’ Thusi advised listeners to avoid spreading the video after the caller brought it to the attention of listeners.

“By spreading this video, you will be advocating child pornography. You don’t know how the spread of it may affect the victim, her friends and family,” explained Mr Thusi.

Mr Thusi said that while he did not create the discussion, or encourage it, he called for the community to let relevant authorities handle the case.

The identities of the persons depicted in the video are unknown at this stage, and sources believe the video may have been staged or downloaded from the Internet.

Authorities from the school confirmed that no persons depicted in the video were either pupils, or ex-pupils of the school. They further concluded that the video had no ties to the school, other than people allegedly attempting to defame it with baseless accusations.

Investigations into the incident are still underway.

Due to the sensitivity of this issue, we have not included the name of the school until a formal statement has been released.
