A large part of Newcastle has been affected by a massive power outage.
It is believed the cause of the problem was a collapsed power line.
At this time the extent of the damage could not be confirmed.
Lindile Zincume, of the municipality electrical department, and his team were just informed about the incident, and are currently tracking down to assess and address the damage.
“We cannot give any indication as to how long it will be before we solve the problem. We will keep the community informed as this matter is resolved,” said Mr Zincume.
He urged residents to be patient as this was an emergency situation. He said the task team will do their best to address the issue efficiently.
