Never give ‘hot’ Pink a drink without ice

Yvette and the band came up with the name Inceptio while they were in Amanzimtoti - the name originally comes from a Latin word, meaning 'new beginnings'.

Former Dundee High School scholar Yvette Barnard stunned the audience at the school hall on Saturday, August 2 with her hard rock performance entitled ‘Trouble – a Tribute to Pink’. She performed with her Pretoria-based band, Inceptio.

In an interview with Dundee High student Sikhona Mbatha, Yvette said she was born in Dundee on November 7, 1981. She attended primary school at Dannhauser Primary and in 1998 she matriculated at Dundee High, where she was also a prefect.
“We were the group which ended the 40 Days event- a traditional celebration at DHS – because we were so rowdy,” she laughed.
After completing her Matric year Yvette wanted to study ballet, but things turned out differently, leading her to auditions which were held at the Barnyard Theatre in Durban.

She was successful, and then decided to continue with her music career.

Yvette has performed in Zimbabwe and Dubai, and she met Mandoza and Deno during previous performances.
She has been on television show on SABC, ‘PlayNetwork’, and she will also be on Sunrise on eTV soon. She also does volunteer work for the SPCA, helping animals in need. To quote Yvette: “I am inappropriate but in a good way, and never give me a drink without ice!”
