Elderly man lives to see justice

Ezakheni detectives worked quickly and arrested one of the suspects the very next day

A 72-year-old pensioner living in the Mhlumayo area in Ezakheni was robbed of all his pension money during September last year.

The elderly man lived to see justice done when the two suspects were sentence to three years each in jail recently.

The pensioner was returning home alone from a local pension pay out point.

As the elderly man walked through an area of  overgrowth bush he was surprised by two men who manhandled him and robbed him of his entire pension.
Ezakheni detectives worked quickly and managed to arrested one of the suspects the very next day.

Cash was recovered from the suspect who co-operated with the detectives and a few days later his “partner in crime” was traced and arrested.
The two accused Mbuyiselwa Elphas Sithole (28) and Slinelelo Langelihle Sithole (25) were recently found guilty of common robbery and sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court.
Investigating officer Sergeant Shilutu has welcomed the sentence and hopes that it will serve as a deterrent to others who show no respect for the elderly or indulge in crime.

The elderly pensioner was relieved to see justice being meted out to his assailants who will spend three years in jail
