Bringing the gold home in the Eskom Expo

It entails a lot of hard work and dedication from learners

The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is South Africa’s only science fair where learners get the opportunity of widening their scientific knowledge. It was held in Ladysmith on Friday, August 8.
It entails a lot of hard work and dedication from learners.
All the learners who represented Forderville Primary School performed very well and together with the support of their educators and the dedication of their parents who spent many months of sleepless nights to ensure that projects were ready for presentation, really made all proud. Congratulations to all participants and heartfelt thank you to all the parents for the time and effort. Special mention must be made of a grade six learner : Craislyn Seebran Ramthol who wowed the judges with his innovative project entitled ‘using solar power for insulation’. He achieved top honours and received a gold award in his category.
Craislyn will now be representing northern KZN in the national finals, which will be held in Boksburg in October. Well done also to Ria Roy, Urvashini Pillay and Mihir Roy who received merit awards for their efforts. FPS also received a good progress award in the senior category. Well done to Craislyn S Ramthol, Yalka Rajcoomar, Trishen Ramsoomar and Mfundo Mkutyukelwa. The following learners also participated and gave a good account of themselves. They received certificates of participation: Andiswa Xulu, Raeeq Rajkoomar, Azraa Nubbee, Swaleha Hanslod, Nkazimulo Sithole, Subhadra Naidoo, Sajana Bidesi, Owais Cassim, Laaiqah Peerbhay, Shreya Shandeep and Yalka Rajcoomar.
