Dead cattle cause traffic delays on N11

When the Ladysmith Gazette got to the scene, the cattle were still stuck in the overturned truck and two of them appeared to be alive

A truck that overturned on the N11 with six cattle on board caused a major traffic jam for most of yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

When the Ladysmith Gazette got to the scene, the cattle were still stuck in the overturned truck and two of them appeared to be alive. An eyewitness asked police officers to shoot the animals still alive to put them out of their misery.

It is not clear what caused the accident. Sharaj Ambulance Services and Ladysmith police were first to arrive on scene. The officers controlled the heavy traffic flow, while Sharaj paramedics stabilised the injured occupant of the truck.

One person was slightly injured and taken to hospital for further treatment.
