One dies in five vehicle crash on N3

Five vehicles were involved in an accident along the N3 highway last night (Monday).

The accident took place between Swinburne and Harrismith on the South bound lanes.

The vehicles involved were two trucks, a white Kia Sportage, a white Hyudai mini van and a taxi. One woman was fatally injured and several others were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

One of the trucks overturned and spilt it’s load of corn across the road. SpillTech were on scene to help clear the road. Various ambulances and towing companies, together with N3TC and SAPS were on scene.

The scene has now been cleared.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are unclear at this time.
