Spectacular send-off for retiring principal

Coinciding with the school’s sports day, the sports committee in conjunction with some educators at the school decided to hold a farewell celebration for Mr Ramkelawan, as it would be his last sports day before retiring

After serving 40 years in the Department of Education, ML Sultan Primary School principal Mr Ramkelawan has decided to retire. Mr Ramkelawan has been the principal of the school for the last 16 years.

The staff and management at ML Sultan Primary went the extra mile on Thursday to show him just how grateful and thankful they are for all his support and hard work throughout the years.

Coinciding with the school’s sports day, the sports committee in conjunction with some educators at the school decided to hold a farewell celebration for Mr Ramkelawan, as it would be his last sports day before retiring.

Mr Ramkelawan landed at the school in a yellow chopper. Once on the ground, he rode on a pony to where a red carpet awaited him. At the end of his walk down the red carpet, he jumped into a sexy red MG sports car and was driven around the ground while cheering children showed their appreciation for their beloved headmaster.

Principals from various schools in Ladysmith were also present.

A short programme followed, in honour of Mr Ramkelawan. After the formalities, the sports day began in earnest.

Mr Ramkelawan will be retiring at the end of this year, and what a lovely send-off it was!

“I am so thankful to the staff, pupils, family and friends for all their support. This was a lovely surprise I will never forget,” said an emotional Mr Ramkelawan.
