Ferrum hosts ATKV choir competition

Ferrum High School hosted the provincial district round of the annual ATKV-applous National Competition for school choirs on Tuesday May 20.

Empangeni High School and New Republic Primary School were represented along with local school choirs from Ferrum and Newcastle High and Newcastle Senior Primary.

ATKV organiser, Mr Johan Esterhuysen and the national adjudicators, Ms Hannelize Du Plessis and Ms Linda Claassen travelled all the way from the Western Cape to listen to choirs in KZN.

All five choirs were awarded a silver certificate and received helpful critiques on their repertoire. The Northern KZN Youth Choir entertained the audience while the adjudicators deliberated over the results.
