Prayer for peace

With a history of political instability and violence, Umtshezi came under the national spotlight and this prompted Mr Mchunu’s visit

MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu appealed for peace and tolerance during his visit to Estcourt on Thursday, May 22.
This follows the murder of two people in Wembezi’s notorious C-Section on Wednesday evening.
In what is believed to be a politically motivated killing, a male and female were shot and killed at about 7pm.
A third female was shot and injured and treated at hospital.
Within hours of a case of murder being opened at the Wembezi police station, three suspects were arrested.
The suspects are aged between 32 and 40-years-old and made a brief appearance in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on Thursday.
With a history of political instability and violence, Umtshezi came under the national spotlight and this prompted Mr Mchunu’s visit.
He met leaders from the police, African National Congress (ANC), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and National Freedom party (NFP) at the Estcourt police station on Thursday.
Here he called for peace and listened to views from the political parties.
