Additional police manpower recruited for election days

"At this point there are no threats anticipated however, there are some areas on which we are keeping an eye on as they are known to be problem areas"

More than 50 police officers have been deployed to watch over the voting process.
Since Monday 54 officers have been manning the 21 voting stations in Umtshezi.
Each station is guarded by a minimum of two officers and additional manpower from the provincial office was expected to report for duty yesterday, Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela says that more police officers may be deployed depending on the behaviour of voters.
“At this point there are no threats anticipated however, there are some areas on which we are keeping an eye on as they are known to be problem areas,” added Captain Sokhela.
