Cop turns tables on hijackers in Ezakheni

As the men opened fire, the policeman stood his ground and returned fire

An off-duty police officer from Gauteng was travelling along Madiba Drive, Steadville, in his private vehicle on Thursday evening at about 7.30pm when his car was hit from behind by a bakkie.
As he got out to check on the damage, two people climbed out of the bakkie and tried to hijack his vehicle.
As the men opened fire, the policeman stood his ground and returned fire.
The clearly surprised suspects decided that the car was not worth dying for and fled.
A passerby was injured in the hand during the shooting.
At this stage, it is not clear whose firearm was responsible for the injury to the passerby.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and attempted hijacking.
