Worker fired for saying ‘No’ to the ANC

Allegedly, he was fired for being the instigator for workers allegedly changing their political affiliation from the African National Congress (ANC) to the National Freedom Party (NFP).

Christiaan Lourens, the municipal worker who vowed to starve to death in an attempt to force the Newcastle municipality into adjusting workers’ salaries, has been fired.

Allegedly, he was fired for being the instigator for workers allegedly changing their political affiliation from the African National Congress (ANC) to the National Freedom Party (NFP).

Workers gathered outside community services this morning, dressed in NFP shirts, openly consummating their vow to not vote for the ANC if their issues were not addressed.

Mr Lourens has approached the Labour Court authorities to fight the decision. An official query was sent to the communications department of the municipality asking for details regarding the circumstances around his dismissal.
