Meals on Wheels is ‘Growing Tomorrow’

Accompanied by MOWCS – E staff, the television crew went to Ntabamhlophe where HIV training, and community work programmes like gardening and cleaning were conducted

From small-town assistance to national newsmakers, Meals on Wheels Community Services – Estcourt (MOWCS – E) has grown from strength to strength.
Their latest development has been a television programme.
Growing Tomorrow is a documentary that tells the stories of organisations that help and heal the communities they serve and whilst gathering research for future programme, the producers came across the MOWCS – E website.
Jam-packed with good stories from the community, the website grabbed their attention and a camera crew was sent by SABC 2 on Friday, April 11. Accompanied by MOWCS – E staff, the crew went to Ntabamhlophe where HIV training, and community work programmes like gardening and cleaning were conducted.
In addition Meals on Wheels donated school shoes to children; this is part of their ‘Adopt an Orphaned Child’ project.
Everyone was also treated to lunch, which MOWCS – E staff prepared and served.
The exact time and date of the television broadcast has not been advised as yet.
When asked how it felt to be filmed for a national documentary, MOWCS – E Director Samkelo Mlambo said: “The idea of us being on a television programme felt so great and we can’t wait to watch it.”
