Learning about food values

To illustrate what they had learnt, they made collages of lunch boxes depicting the foods that they should be packing in their own lunch boxes and that which was unhealthy

The emphasis on good eating habits and the choice of the correct food is very topical; and no one is ever too young to learn about good and bad food.
Mrs Heidrun Rohrs and her grade two class at Treverton Prep spent the first term including this aspect of good health in their theme “How to look after your body.”
The children spent time learning about healthy and unhealthy food.
To illustrate what they had learnt, they made collages of lunch boxes depicting the foods that they should be packing in their own lunch boxes and that which was unhealthy. The former exhibited fruit, vegetables, whole-wheat sandwiches and milk, the latter was filled with pictures of sweets, chips, iced cakes and fizzy drinks. The theme included lessons on aspects of health and the importance of exercise.
