Concern over public’s lack of interest in budget and IDP

Umtshezi Municipality tabled the Draft Annual Budget for 2014/2015 on Thursday.
The Chief Financial Officer Mr MJ Zulu briefly explained the weighty document.
The draft budget will be available in all public libraries for the community to peruse and comment on.
Residents can expect a six percent increase on all tariffs like waste removal; the electricity tariff will increase by seven percent, which is below the 8.06 percent Eskom increase.
The draft Integrated Development Plan for 2014/2015 was also tabled and approved by council.
The public was encouraged to view these documents and interact with the municipality.
Mayor Bongani Dlamini commented on the poor attendance at the budget and IDP roadshows.
