Sam plans to boldly go bald

"You only know someone once you have walked a day in their shoes," said Sam, when asked the reason behind shaving his hair off, which took three years to grow

In the spirit ahead of the upcoming Shavathon, local barber Sameer Mungal prepares to part with his luscious shoulder-lenghth locks.
Sameer, also known as ‘Sam the friendly barber’, laid down his clippers and cape as he prepared to be seated on the opposite end of the barber’s stool where his hair will be shaved off.
“You only know someone once you have walked a day in their shoes,” said Sam, when asked the reason behind shaving his hair off, which took three years to grow – an impressive ponytail measuring 30 centimetres.
When asked about his commendable support of the Shavathon, and of the disease in essence, he replied: “I have come upon many cancer sufferers, some friends, others clients. I have seen them endure the illness, felt their woes, and even lost some friends.”
Sam, although not a cancer sufferer himself, claims that he has suffered through the illness with some of the loved ones it has claimed, and hence has rallied on in the battle against cancer. He is not only showing solidarity by parting with his hair, but is also willing to volunteer in the shaving of other supporters, proving that he can be best described as a good ‘Sam’-aritan.
Sam also boldly challenged other supporters and businesses to come and take part in this worthy cause. He believes ‘just as three years of hair growth can be gone in a matter of seconds, so can a life, and hence all possible support is needed’.
Sam leaves the readers with an inspirational message: “Live large with less; appreciate life more, for it is here today but gone tomorrow.”
