The Lion of Juda Riders hosted a Breakfast Bike Run for Peet Barnard on Sunday morning and managed to raise a whopping R13,000.
Bikers gathered at the Shell garage in Murchison Street and then rode to Bingalela.
The entry fee for the ride was in the form of a donation. The aim of the ride was to raise funds to help brave little Peet Barnard, who was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago.
Starting in his liver, kidneys and pancreas, the cancer later spread to his brain.
Peet has been going to Grey’s Hospital on a regular basis for treatment, which includes chemotherapy.
Affectionately known as ‘Klein Peet’, this 10-year-old is currently at home and fighting for his life. Now blind and completely bedridden, Peet was taken to the bike run by his parents and pushed around in a wheelchair.
Although he could not see what was going on, he could definitely feel the love and excitement in the air. Everyone was there for him!
Peet went for his final bone marrow LP test at Grey’s Hospital on Monday and his family will get the results in two weeks’ time.
Peet’s mother, Michelle, says she is so thankful to everyone who helped with the bike run.
